Dark Eye Trials

What does being Trial with Dark Eye mean?

Being on trial within Dark Eye is a 2 way process. Not only are Dark Eye seeing if the trial player fits in with the guild but also the trial is seeing whether they fit in with Dark Eye. The guild Dark Eye has been born through the collection and bonding of like minded gamers. This means that those on trial are being assessed to see if they are of that nature. The culture and harmony of the guild are important and it has taken a lot of time and effort from all within the guild to build and maintain that culture. This is not a faceless guild where turning up to raid, getting your points, loot and leaving is acceptable. A member of Dark Eye communicates with fellow players, when time permits lends a hand to fellow players and at the end of the day gets on with players

How long is a trial?

Around 2 weeks

Why is the trial not just a set period of say 2 weeks only?

Sometimes people fit in with the guild like a glove so a shorter trial is ample. Sometimes a trialist cannot play as much as expected and so is not known by other guild members and so the trial is extended. It’s factors like this that can extend a trial period. Not being accepted after 2 weeks does not mean you are not liked, rejected or anything like that, it’s because we need to see what’s going on before making a decision on membership. If a trial is being extended a class leader or officer will speak to you and explain why and then something can be worked out.

What considerations are taken when promoting from trial to member?

Being a member of Dark Eye is a good thing. You can wear your guild tag in pride knowing that you are contributing to the overall progression and culture of the guild, you are an ambassador of the guild with that tag above your head. You have shown you are into the guild ethos and that you have shown you want to contribute to the guild and it’s progression. It’s these qualities that are taken into account when being promoted. In addition to looking at how you fit in and get on with others we also look at your raiding activity. Although not strictly a hardcore raiding guild we still want to progress in the game at a good pace without burnout, therefore we expect trialists and members alike to contribute to guild progression.
This means if playing as a raider by being available for at least 3 raid sessions a week

Examples which are likely to not gain you full membership are turning up for say 1 raid a week, dropping from raids half way through, afk’ing a lot, turning up late consistently for raids without prior warning, not listening, afking between wipes, not speaking and getting on with fellow guild members, being childish and abusive in public channels, loot whoring and whining. As you can see there are a number of factors, but really at the end of the day they are just common sense.

The bottom line is if you show you have a love for gaming, play your class well, sociable and like to work as a team to progress then you are in, that is what Dark Eye needs. Those kind of people.

Can a trial player loot Loot from raids?

Trials will not be eligible for loot until after a min of 5 raids and 2 weeks of playing and raiding with Dark Eye. In those 2 weeks (and beyond) you are expected to put time into raiding with everyone, seeing how we play and integrating yourself with the guild. The reason for this is to ensure that loot stays in guild for a long time, what we do not want is for items to leave the guild after an unsuccessful trial. It’s not fair on current members who have worked hard to get us there in the first place.
At the end of the day this is not that long a time. If a player really wants to contribute and be a member of Dark Eye then having a 2 weeks of no raid loot is a small price to pay in the long term for the guild and the player.

If no guild member wants an item then trialists can spend their earnt dkp on dropped items. The raid master looter will announce when trials can make a claim on an item

Does a trialist earn dkp?

Yes you earn full dkp while on trial. That means once eligible for loot you can bid and spend dkp on items.

What happens when a raid is full or over-subscribed when I am on trial

Sometimes a raid can be over subscribed and there are to many people for the raid. If that is the case first and foremost raid balance is addressed. Once raid balance has been addressed then members get priority over trials as to whether to be included within the raid. Do not be offended if you are requested to sit out a raid on this basis, your wanting to be there is noted and taken as a positive

Can I fail a trial and what will happen?

Yes you can, as noted in what happens from trial to member and promotion criteria, the reasons for rejection for membership to Dark Eye will be explained by an officer. Do not take offence, the outcome is in the best interest of the guild and yourself that membership was rejected. At that point you will be asked to leave the guild.

What happens if am inactive and on trial?

We all have real lives and we all go on holiday. It is a good idea to give your class leader a heads up that you are going to be inactive for whatever reason, that way a note can be added to your character profile. Every couple of weeks the officers look at activity of trialists and if someone who is on trial and they are inactive and the reason is unknown, it is very likely you will be removed from the guild.
